IVECO MOTORS is the trademark that identifies the Fiat Powertrain Technologies engines for Industrial and Marine applications. Fiat Powertrain Technologies was set up in March 2005 to integrate all the Fiat Group innovation capabilities and expertise in engines and transmissions. The company is responsible for all powertrain activities of Fiat Auto, Iveco, Centro Ricerche Fiat and Elasis, with an annual production totaling approximately 2.5 million engines and 2.0 million transmissions. The Iveco Motors / FPT family of products includes leading-edge engines in terms of both technological contents and high performance, the result of intensive research and development activities. In the last five years all engine families have been completely renewed adopting advanced technology in emission reduction, and providing solutions that guarantee the highest levels of performance and fuel economy. Applications regard vehicles (medium and heavy commercial vehicles and buses), industrial machinery ( construction equipment, agricultural machinery and stationary applications), marine engines (leisure and commercial marine vessels) and power generation with power outputs from 40 to 1600 kW. Our engines are produced in nine plants (Europe, Brazil, Argentina), with four R&D centres (Italy, Switzerland and Spain); only 40% of the engines are developed for the captive market, the higher percentage is developed and supplied to the open market. The IVECO MOTORS organisation operates six direct branches (in China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Sweden and the U.S.A.), with over 520 dealers and 1300 service centres in over 100 countries. www.fptpowertrain.com Research and Development activities are particularly important in engine production. It is through these activities that the product can constantly evolve, not only to respect legal obligations but also to obtain further benefits for the customer. The application of advanced technologies makes it possible to market engines with ever better performance (powerful, light, compact and silent) and lower running costs, particularly where fuel and lubricant consumption is concerned. Iveco Motors operates four Research Centres all dedicated to engine production: - ARBON, the most important, stands close to Lake Constance, in Switzerland. It employs about 200 highly trained technicians who carry out basic development activities. The Centre is equipped with the most advanced test and engine measurement units. - TURIN - Italy, equipped with an array of test benches, including anechoic cells and refrigerated cells, where engine functioning is verified and fine tuned in all types of use. - BARCELONA - Spain, a Centre which supports the various engineering activities aimed at developing versions targeted specifically at individual applications. - PREGNANA MILANESE - Italy, which undertakes development programmes focusing on models for specific applications, such as the marine and power generation range. It is equipped with test benches that are particularly suitable for the definition of these applications, including exhaust gas emissions measurement. R & D Centers (maps)
